Passenger numbers up by 30% last month
The number of RJ passengers increased by 30% in May, compared to the corresponding month last year, whereas fuel prices grew by 110% over that of May 2007. During the first five months of this year, the number of passengers went up by 21% and fuel expenses by 91%, compared to the same period of 2007.

RJ awarded (Airline of the Year 2007) by Air Finance Journal
Royal Jordanian was granted the “Airline of the Year 2007” award, following a study performed by Air Finance Journal. The journal published an extensive report including an analysis of the reasons RJ deserves the award which is given once a year to the most distinguished and financially efficient airline worldwide.

Royal Jordanian held its yearly cargo agents dinner at the InterContinental Hotel, Amman. The airline invited its cargo agents to thank them for their partnership and work with RJ.

Majali: chairman of IATA s Board of Governors
Royal Jordanian President/CEO Samer Majali has commenced his one-year term as the Chairman of the IATA Board of Governors according to an announcement made during the 64th Annual General Meeting of the International Air Transport Association (IATA), held between June 2 and 3, 2008, in Istanbul, Turkey. Majali became the chairman of the Board of Governors on June 2, 2008, and will hold the position until the 65th Annual General Meeting to be held in June 2009.

RJ receives Embraer 175 - Zay
On June 1, Royal Jordanian, a oneworld member, received an Embraer 175 aircraft given the name Zay - a tourist site in central Jordan. Zay is the sixth Embraer to join the RJ fleet; five Embraer 195s joined the company in the last two years, whereas the seventh will be assimilated later. All Embraer aircraft service the regional and Middle Eastern routes.

RJ implements e-ticketing system two weeks before IATA deadline
President/CEO Samer Majali stressed that RJ fully implemented the e-ticketing system at all its sales offices and travel agents around the world two weeks before the 100% e-ticket (ET) deadline on June 1, 2008, set by the International Air Transport Association (IATA).
