RJ signs MoU with Jordan Hospitals Association to boost medical tourism

May - Amman

RJ President/CEO Captain Haitham Misto and president of the JHA, Dr. Zuhair Abu Faris, signed the agreement that is bound to make use of the potential in this vital sector, reflecting positively on the national economy and boosting Jordan’s reputation in this field regionally and internationally.

Captain Misto expressed the airline’s satisfaction at working closely with JHA and all parties involved in developing tourism, particularly medical tourism, for which Jordan is well known, saying that there are national efforts to develop this sector and to attract more visitors from all over the world.

He said that RJ and JHA will cooperate directly with the Ministry of Tourism and the Jordan Tourism Board (JTB) to achieve the joint goal of boosting Jordan’s position as a country that attracts tourists seeking medical assistance, and highlighted RJ’s role in promoting Jordanian medical capabilities through its different tools at its 50 stations worldwide.

Under the framework of the MoU, said Misto, the airline will offer all possible travel facilities to the patients and their companions to meet their travel needs, in collaboration with JHA and JTB. He added that national institutions should exert more efforts to invest in the sites providing medical care, which are spread around the kingdom, and promote them to the world as Jordan has advanced medical and therapeutic capabilities and distinguished expertise in the field.

Dr. Abu Faris stressed the importance of signing the agreement that sets the foundation for cooperation and joint effort on the part of RJ and JHA.

He said JHA is pleased to deal with Jordan’s national carrier, which enjoys a great reputation for its top-notch services, modern fleet and extended route network, and which will not only transport patients to the kingdom but also contribute to boosting Jordan’s image as a destination for medical tourism.

He said that the MoU is an example of a successful partnership between the public and private sectors.

The association’s members include private sector hospitals, Royal Medical Services, Jordan University Hospital, and the King Hussein Cancer Center.

Dr. Abu Faris said JHA believes in the significance of medical tourism in supporting the national economy, and that the association will spare no effort to enhance this type of tourism at both Arab and international levels, in view of the significant progress achieved by the Jordanian medical sector and the natural medical tourist sites existing in the Kingdom.
