The National Mosque of Malaysia: Built in 1965 to commemorate Malaysia’s national independence, the National Mosque of Malaysia is a major national legacy. With a capacity to accommodate 15,000 visitors and a 73-meter-high minaret, Masjid Negara stands as one of Southeast Asia’s largest mosques. The main dome of the Mosque is designed in the shape of an 18-point star representing the five pillars of Islam and the 13 states of Malaysia.

Batu Caves: Located 13 kilometers north of Kuala Lumpur, the Batu Caves are one of the country’s most important tourist attractions and a place of pilgrimage for Tamil Hindus. The 400 million-year-old limestone hill features caves and cave temples housing ornate Hindu idols, paintings and shrines in addition to the 43-meter-high Lord Murugan Statue, which sits at the foot of the caves. The wild monkeys (long-tailed macaques) running around the site make for another reason to visit this truly impressive Malaysian temple.
