Umm Al Rasas and Mkawer Tour
-
- Duration: 06- 07 hours
After a private airport pickup, you will head to Umm al Rasas- named by UNISCO as one of the World Heritage sites- and mentioned in the Old and New Testaments, and which the Romans fortified and the local Christians were still embellishing with Byzantine-style mosaics well over one hundred years after the beginning of Muslim rule.
The rectangular walled city is mostly in ruins but still includes several buildings, as well as four churches and beautiful stone arches. The main attraction lays within the Church of St. Stephen, which contains a very large, perfectly preserved mosaic floor dating back to 718.
After finishing your tour of Umm Al Rasas, you will head to Mkawer, with its stunning panoramic views of the surrounding countryside, the Dead Sea, and the West Bank. On a clear night you can easily make out the lights of Al-Quds (Jerusalem) and Ariha (Jericho).
You will then enjoy lunch at a local restaurant, before heading back to the airport for final departure.
